Send Multiple Email Campaigns

Re-mailing
You just sent out your email campaign. The results are in and they’re great. You’ve generated a high percentage of opens and click-throughs. You’ve seen a spike in traffic and an increase in subscribers. But what about those recipients that didn’t open your email? Should they just be ignored? Of course not! Target those non-openers by re-mailing.

When to re-mail
The worst thing you can do is send another email two days after your initial campaign. By doing so, you increase your chances of having people unsubscribe from your list. After your initial campaign is sent out, look at your opens. If about ninety percent or so have opened your emails in the four days, you can send out another email the next day.

Re-mails are a good testing ground
Odds are that, if a recipient did not open your email the first time, nothing about the message intrigued them (or it got caught in the Spam or Junk folder). When you send out a re-mail, you are hoping that by using a different subject line (for better subject lines, see the white paper “12 Strategies for Better Subject Lines”) more people will open your email. Also, avoid using generic “from” names, such as Business Team. Lastly, experiment with when (what day of the week and what time of day) you send your message.

Blocked Emails
By combining your blocked email addresses into one list, you can use this list from time to time to see if some email addresses become good depending upon a different subject line, “from” name, or message. It is a good idea to periodically retry your list of blocked emails.

  1. Log in to your account at my-login.net. Click on the “Email Marketing” tab.
  2. Under “lists,” click on the “view lists” link in the left navigation menu.
  3. Select a list name, and a list of e-mail addresses will be loaded onto the screen.
  4. After you list appears, click on the “actions” button at the top, and mouse over the “filter by” menu option.
  5. A drop down menu will appear, select “blocked” from the drop down box, and a list of blocked e-mail addresses will be loaded.
  6. Click on the “actions” button and select “export.”
  7. Click the “download range” button to download the list to your computer.
  8. Delete the blocked e-mail addresses from the list by clicking the “delete” button, and select “delete all blocked e-mails.”

Opt-outs
Just like blocked emails, opt-outs are bound to happen. Even if a subscriber is generally interested in the content you send, they still may opt-out. But it’s important to find out why someone opts out. An unsubscribe is an opportunity to better understand your subscribers and the information they desire. After a user clicks the “unsubscribe” link, create a page that asks why the unsubscribed, followed by a list of checkbox or radial buttons, with an explanation next to each. But understanding why a recipient opted out, you can craft better subject lines and messages.
